Where can I find SPECIFIC instructions on setting up IIS with screenshots?

No matter what I do, I%26#039;m still not getting it right. I must be missing something.

I have a domain name though godaddy.com

DNS through zoneedit.com

I%26#039;ve installed IIS on my computer.

In IIS I have set up the default web site

Under properties, I have my external IP address entered, port 80, and www.mysite.com in Host Header name. (I don%26#039;t know whether to use 127.0.0.1, or 198.168.1.1, or my external address for sure)

I have a router - Have port forwarded port 80 and 443 to 192.168.0.101, which is the computer with IIS.

I have IIS services started.

I can%26#039;t even get it to open through http://localhost. (Error404 / There is no website setup at this location.)

The directory is correct - when I click open on it, it opens the folder with index.html.

There are no errors in the event viewer.

I am using XP Media Center

Please let me know if you can explain this or let me know of a site with specific instructions from start to finish on how to do this correctly, Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a hosting company? Looking for dedicated servers, great service and competitive

Currently use RackSpace, but they are very expensive. Have 2 web servers, 1 DB server and 2 application servers. Need Firewall and Load Balancer (Level 7). Our site is Akamaized if that helps.

I%26#039;ve always have had good luck with servermatrix.com, they are part of theplanet.com and their prices are reasonable.

this might not be much use but have you tried searching the web

Email Question?

I have a web site that I am soon to manage and the client has an OPT IN email newsletter database.

Do you think its best to go with a third party host for this with a dedicated SMTP server or try and run batches from the regular host SMTP server? The have tried the later and have been getting about 40% bounced back email. I think its the server timing out.

The database is Access, the list contains about 8000 records. The email is sent twice a month.

Email Question?

get an Infacta Group mailer with the appropriate gateway for emailing yourself. However, the bounce backs could be because your domain has been identified as a spammer, or you have some bad emails. Some stale lists have a lot of bounces.

First, get a free or inexpensive email verifying program, and try a batch.

You can also get some reasonable email hosts who also have fresh leads that don%26#039;t charge a lot of money.

Email Question?

no...dont do that..it will create more complexity and trouble..get a fast n little expensive then you are going to use right now.. hosting service..will work...

How to make my site grow?

I have a website(www.auxycorp.com)which aims at selling web hosting packages at a cheap price.Half of what you get in the internet. How should i advertise for free and how can i make people buy them from my links.

How to make my site grow?

To begin, you can%26#039;t force people to buy from your links. I checked the site and you have 2 links for people to buy from and a bunch of advertiser links at the top of the page that distract from what you are trying to do.

You mention $2.88 a month, but reading what%26#039;s listed for the 2 offers, that doesn%26#039;t show up. Explain how this works better with each one.

Look at your site with a critical eye - it needs help. You don%26#039;t have any spaces after your sentences and some don%26#039;t have a period at the end. It looks amateurish even though you have a good template. work on that a bit more before looking to advertise.

Craigslist is one free place to advertise that does well. You can look at forums to join as well and put your website name as part of your signature.

How to make my site grow?

Create a site that may get the attraction of other viewers. Some would add new features to their site to attract more visitors.

Other Replys:First of all, having a %26lt;title%26gt; of %26quot;Home Page%26quot; is not a very effective metatag. It should be more specific and business localized, i.e., city, state, country. And the %26lt;description%26gt; should not merely contain duplicate entries which can be found in the %26lt;title%26gt; metatag. Your %26lt;keywords%26gt; metatag should contain more entries; not just one.

The following article may prove helpful to you in streamlining your SEO metatags in order to attract more Net traffic by higher search engine placement.

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is

to first set up a website and publish its domain name

on major search directories such as Google.com,

Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and

MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these

search directories to provide them with goods and

services. In a sense, these search directories are a

very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage

fail to contain %26quot;generic%26quot; keywords, then anyone using

such %26quot;generic%26quot; queries will not be able to discover

your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,

in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,

when observed and committed in designing of a website

with placement of various critical metatags that can

surely achieve a high search engine presence and

increase Internet traffic to your website. These

metatag strategies work well with published webpages

at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based

website, make sure to fill-in the property entries

such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing

to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can

be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the

Internet audience and their incoming setup. For

example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages

take too long to load up and therefore analog users

will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the

Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL

lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So

before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple

question, %26quot;Who%26#039;s my end user - is he on dialup or

DSL?%26quot; And if you had to choose between these two users

for maximum marketability, then select analog users

since 80% of most resident users are still analog

Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages

is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,

is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit

the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a

graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots

are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google

and Yahoo and it begins with the %26quot;Title%26quot; metag which

should consist of no more than 60 characters separated

by commas. The %26quot;Title%26quot; should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the %26quot;Title%26quot; is not appropriate, unless your

domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the %26quot;Description%26quot; which is

usually up to 41 words to form a complete paragraph which

best describes one%26#039;s goods and services. It is not merely a list.

And the very last category - %26quot;Keywords%26quot; are also

somewhat limited to 15 words which can be plural

and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries

which could be mistaken as %26quot;spamdexed entries%26quot; which

is defined as the loading, and submission of

repetitive words into a particular metatag category.

%26quot;Spamdexing%26quot; when discovered on a webpage and reported

to Google%26#039;s spamreport.com can result in the

elimination of your website from their search

directory.

Here%26#039;s an example of a very highly-placed website on

Google.com: Begin with the very %26quot;generic%26quot; search query

%26quot;sandwiches downtown los angeles,%26quot; taking note to not

abbreviate Los Angeles to %26quot;LA%26quot; and of course, leave

out the parentheses (%26quot;). It will bring up some 2.4

million+ search results. Check out where %26quot;Nazos.net%26quot;

is ranked. It%26#039;s on the SECOND FRONT [ranked 15]!

Again, Nazos.net%26#039;s high web presence was achieved by

proper web design and placement of relevant metatags

according to Google%26#039;s publication guidelines.

Good luck!

that%26#039;s amazing , you answered my question before I asked it. Are you a psychic.

Svchost is quite important ,have a look at it?

That%26#039;s nice. Did you have a question?

Other Replys:Welcome to XP. :)

Other Replys:I dont fully understand your question. If you are wondering what svchost is, its a Windows Service that handles Automatic updates, Sound card, Wireless Internet, and other esstenial Windows Services. Do not stop or end this process.

In other cases, svchost can be mimicked and be a virus (probably not in this case). Make sure you have a virus scan, as some people try to make their file svchost.exe so that it looks like a windows service.
