I just got a new-ish computer, and set my old one in the closet. I was looking around for things to do with it, and I basically decided to use it as a home server. Ill use it to FTP files, stream music and Video, and possibly host a web page, who knows.
so Im looking for the best OS to use. I have no Linux history, so I basically got it down to Windows XP or 2000, but if someone could point me to a guide for a headless Linux server site guide thingger, that can do all I said about I would greatly appreciate it, as I have many copy%26#039;s of Ubuntu stashed on my computer.
umm idk what more info you want but I current would have 3 desk-tops, and 2 laptops hooked to it, and possibly a small group of computers for gaming once in awhile.
Like I said, I want it to be headless (no monitor needed) just push the on button and its working (or just stays on for days and days)
Best home server OS?
Windows Home Server
