I expect that this will require a lot of space to host although my knowledge on running a website is minimal....Can anyone advise me what specific requirements I should look for from a web host when canvassing a provider? Also, this is going to be a non profit venture so cost is also an important factor however I do not want to cut on quality if possible.

Other Replys:if you spend time searching and learning, you can do all this for free. Start with w3schools.com, search for free/inexpensive hosts (there are tons out there), look for phpBB.com for free forums to install. And there are tons of free and great programs you can put on you site (like viewing pics).

But of course I wrote all my own codes for my site (it gives me more control and provides JUST WHAT I WANT). But writing your own codes may take over a month. It depends on what you want from the site, more control or a better looking website?

When you search for hosts, make sure that have server side programs available, like freehostia.com (its great to start, but kinda slow).

Other Replys:Interective site involves a lot of programming (ASP or PHP) and a database. You need to consider the price of the development. As for hosting I like GoDaddy.com, their prices are good, ASP.NET site with SQL database you can host for $6.99/mo. I am pretty satisfied with thir service. I think they offer built in blog as a part of the hosting package, but I don%26#039;t know the details, check it on their website.
