Ive been falsely accused of stealing copy written material in the creation of my website, specifically of the underlying site code. I%26#039;m hoping to resolve the problem peacefully with the accuser, but until I know his intentions I am also exploring my legal options. I%26#039;ve been accused of the theft of php scripts and the simple accusation led to my web host booting me, despite there being no offered proof. I can%26#039;t blame them for not wanting to be caught in the middle of a lawsuit honestly, though I am a tad annoyed anyway. So is the accusation and resulting loss of service grounds for a libel/defamation suit as long as the code is provably not copied?
Looking for any advise on going about filing a libel and defamation of character lawsuit.?
Filing a lawsuit should only be a last resort. You are likely to spend a lot of time and money. Make sure you have no other reasonable option and that the amount you are likely to collect is large enough to justify the effort.
