What is wrong with my computer/internet connection?

My husband and I are set up on a LAN. His is the host computer and mine the client. For months now I can not seem to load certain sites on the web. We re-established the connection to make sure that the ping was o.k. We checked the firewall. We updated our Norton virus protection and removed all unused and unnecessary programs on the client computer. The host computer surfs the internet fine and can load any page with ease. The client computer is slow and loads some pages and then not others. I.E. : I can go to Yahoo! but not Yahoo!Music. I can go to the main page of MySpace but it will never completely load when trying to log in. I also checked to make sure that I had Java installed and the most recent active x controls. I am at a loss. I have no idea what else to do. There should be no reason why his is working fine and mine not. The connection is perfect and all the software seems to be up to date and working. Please if anyone can help. I start school online and need it working.

To truly test if it is your computer or his computer. Flip the scenerio around. Connect yours directly to the internet and see if it works. It really sounds like you have caught a virus or a worm that norton is not detecting. this does occur. Try to go to another virus protector web site and a antispam site and run their web versions to see if you have something that norton is not detecting.

Do you have a google tool bar ?

Do you have a router? Wireless?

Is it loading flash players%26#039; like utube %26amp; so on?

Do you both have the same copy of Norton on both PC%26#039;s?

Do you know how to clean your old Regestry keys manually?

Other Replys:to check your connection dissable your fire wall and security option if your browsing is ok then edit your firewall seting or check your computer ip configutation. what is your default getwat and dns if it match with your host computer definately your computer works but ip must not match with another computer

Other Replys:I tried something like this using windows to connection share and frankly I think it might just be that windows sucks hard when it tries to do something like this.

I gave up and ran a hard wire connection from a dedicated router and everything worked fine (I%26#039;d had wireless on one of my legs).

It required running a 20%26#039; cable across the living room but it worked perfectly after that.

Other Replys:Bet your MTU is wrong, nope can%26#039;t explain it but a few quick tests from the following site will help explain and how to fix.

Other Replys:simple suggestion...just might work....reboot client computer, and start it in safe mode.....see if you can get it working...if problem disappears, then reboot, and see if problem still exists. If it doesn%26#039;t, then issue is resolved, and whatever was wrong has probably gone away after the %26quot;hard boot.%26quot; By the way, no tech support available?

Other Replys:First off I would try:

1)Enable DHCP on the router via the router%26#039;s control panel. You can typically get to the router%26#039;s control panel by http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1

2) With DHCP enabled on the router, connect the router to the Cable or DSL %26quot;modem%26quot; directly.

3) Connect the Ethernet cables for both your computer and your husband%26#039;s computer to the router.

4) Unplug the power cable to your Cable or DSL %26quot;modem%26quot; for 30-45 seconds.

5) Plug the power cable for the Cable or DSL %26quot;modem%26quot; back in.

6) Reboot both computers.

Test. You should now have internet access at both computers that is IDENTICAL. Either you should both be connected and all is well or neither of you should be connected.

If neither of you is connected:

Turn ICS off on your husband%26#039;s computer.

On both computers set the IP address to obtain and IP address automatically and obtain DNS address automatically. Reboot both computers again.

Other Replys:your computer must be a victim of a virus or your internet connection is not paid
